About This Wine
Wisdom Point
Cabernet Sauvignon
The Left Bank of Bordeaux is no longer the only source of superior Cabernet Sauvignon. Our Wisdom Point Cabernet will open your eyes to the New World of wine while maintaining classic Old World styling. This wine is full-bodied and elegant, with concentrated flavors that lean into oak, herbs, and stewed fruit. Since the early 1990s, the Robertson District of South Africa has been on a red wine journey with new plantings of internationally beloved grapes Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. These Cab vineyards grow on a hill called Klippiesdal in the Breede River Valley. Similar to the gravelly soils of Bordeaux's Left Bank, soils here contain a high concentration of river stones, making them quicker draining and less fertile than the surrounding area. The region's hot climate allows for optimum ripening while the Breede River provides irrigation. Maturation in French oak barrels softens tannins and adds complexity to create an Old World style from the exciting New World of South African wine. Our Cabernet is sincere and deliberate. Oak influence appears on the nose with aromas of cigar box and vanilla, while herbal notes of Herbes de Provence provide an aromatic lift. The wine’s weighty palate displays delectable tertiary flavors of stewed cherries and balsamic reduction.
