About This Wine

Wild Horse

Pinot Noir

The free and noble spirit that inhabits the wild mustangs on the Eastern hills of the Templeton, CA estate flows into the wines at Wild Horse Winery. They are champions of the region, the Pinot Noir grape, and sustainable viticulture. They consider the 2016 Pinot a return to form after years of drought. Warm days and cool nights allowed the grapes to grow perfectly, and the harvest was quick and easy. Small and dense grapes ensured that the 2016 Pinot Noir would be beautifully balanced but still intense. The fruit on the nose fades into herbs, cola, and oak—a beautiful wine to pair with dinner.

Wild Horse 2016 Pinot Noir Central Coast, California

Wine Region

Central Coast

California's Central Coast might be a bit quieter than Napa or Sonoma to the north, but this lesser-known region produces many world-class wines. Enjoying incredible terroir along its vast 280-mile stretch—from San Francisco Bay to Santa Barbara—Central Coast wines are increasingly in demand. Its position between the Pacific Coast Ranges and the Southern Coast Ranges is key to its quality, with many cool-climate AVAs offering elegant Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Merlot. In the hotter parts of the Central Coast, away from the coastal fogs and cold mountain slopes, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre are exceptional.
