About This Wine

Whale Light

Chardonnay

Washington is no stranger to the wonders of the sea. In addition to being one of the world's most scenic and biologically rich inland seas, making it a prime place for whale watching, the Salish Sea plays a vital role in the complex geological history of the region. Vineyards here span a vast array of soil types, which results in diverse wine styles. This fruit enjoyed long daylight hours throughout the season in the warm climate of Washington's Columbia Valley. This allowed for the development of ripe fruit flavors and a smooth creaminess. Our Whale Light Chardonnay captures the complexity and character of this region through its classic style with layers of juicy tropical fruits and notes of apple and pear with a silky mouth feel from the first sip to the lingering finish. A whisper of sweet oak aging unites aromas, flavors, mouthfeel and finish. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.

Wine Region

Columbia Valley

Sheltered by the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, Columbia Valley is home to the majority of Washington's vineyards. Cool nights keep zippy acidity in the grapes, while long daylight hours give the fruit plenty of chance to ripen. This results in full-bodied Merlot, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon and deeply concentrated Syrah. White wines are just as tantalizing, with toasty oak-touched Chardonnay and ripe stone fruit-flavored Riesling taking the spotlight. Sub-AVAs to look out for are Yakima Valley and Walla Walla. The Columbia Valley is one of the only appellations in the United States to occupy vineyards in two states, as it crosses the Oregon border in the southern part of the valley.

  • A figure representing the Crème Brûlée tasting note. Crème Brûlée

This wine beautifully showcases the layered characteristics typical of a Columbia Valley Chard—aromas of ripe melon and pineapple, notes of apple, pear, and a hint of lemon curd creaminess with the lightest touch of oak, which carries through to a smooth and creamy finish.
