About This Wine
Whale Light
Pinot Gris
Willamette Valley in Oregon is considered to be one of the premier wine growing regions in the world. The Coast Range to the west protects the valley from storms coming off the Pacific Ocean, while the Cascade Mountains to the east draw a boundary between the cooler climate valley weather and the dry, desert-like environment in the eastern part of the state. Famously rumored to be cold and rainy all year, the region actually experiences a diurnal temperature shift during the growing season with morning fog veils and sunny skies in the afternoons. Varietals like Pinot Gris thrive in environments like this. Developing a much different profile than Pinot Gris from California, this wine has a lighter palate and a touch of acidity that is complemented by an oily texture often seen in Viognier. Classically pretty and delicate in taste, flavors of bright green fruit are married with bold white floral aromatics. A perfect wine for sipping on warm summer nights.
