About This Wine

Valley Oak Cooperage

Zinfandel-Petite Sirah

Founded by winemakers with a passion for the best grapes, Valley Oak Cooperage originally dedicated itself to perfecting the art of making fantastic Merlots. But after winning prestigious award after prestigious award they decided to work on a new project: making the perfect expression of Zinfandel and Sirah. With a lot of hard work, the award-winning team from Valley Oak Cooperage has created a show-stopping wine that took home a silver medal at the 2017 Sommeliers Challenge.

The Valley Oak Cooperage 2016 Zinfandel-Petite Sirah is incredibly well balanced between the two grapes. The wine has fruit forward notes of plum and blackberry but is still restrained and easy to drink. Try it with grilled steaks and potatoes for an excellent evening in.

REGION
This wine comes from Lodi, California—a region noted for its similarities to warm days and cool nights. The soil types vary, but much of the region is rocky and high in minerals, like the southern French region of Chateauneuf du Pape.

TASTING NOTES
Big and juicy the Valley Oak Cooperage 2016 Zinfandel-Petite Sirah is an everyday drinker. Taking the best of each grape this wine has dark fruit notes of plum and blackberry, but with subtle hints of spice. It feels silky in the mouth and plays across your tongue with a long finish.

Wine Region

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.
