About This Wine

Trefethen Family Vineyards

Chardonnay

Coming from a family with deep roots in Napa Valley winemaking and a commitment to seeing it thrive, this 2018 Trefethen Oak Knoll Chardonnay could be called a love letter to the region. The grapes were sourced entirely from the Main Trefethen Ranch and are fermented in barrels, spending 9 months in oak. It's less "California Chard" than you might think, and the lively acidity makes a perfect match for food and extended cellaring. Trefethen Chardonnays are famous for aging beautifully over many years. Wine Enthusiast Magazine even gave this wine 93 points saying, "This is an elegant, classically styled Chardonnay, brimming in structure." A worthy cellar addition!

Wine Region

Oak Knoll District

Home to legendary Zinfandels and delicate Chardonnays, Oak Knoll is one of Napa Valley's most prestigious sub-regions. Vines are planted on the valley floor, where breezes from San Pablo Bay keep grapes refreshingly acidic. This is one of the coolest parts of Napa, so grapes that struggle elsewhere in the valley—like Riesling and Pinot Noir—can thrive. It is also home to many Bordeaux-style blends made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Malbec.
