About This Wine
Treaty 42 Cellars
Monastrell
Ripe red and dark fruit flavors join peppery spice for an adventurous Spanish red from Treaty 42 Cellars. Monastrell is indigenous to Spain, though its name often varies depending on the region or country to which it has migrated from its homeland. This thick-skinned red grape’s bold tannins and savory characteristics add to the complexity and structure of well-known blends worldwide, including the famous wines of France’s Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where it is known as Mourvédre. But regardless of its name, this variety produces full-bodied, rustic wines comparable to Cabernet Sauvignon—perfect for deep-red lovers. Monastrell thrives in Spain’s warm, Mediterranean climate, where our local winemaking partners utilize 50 years of knowledge to harness its unique character. Born from old vines at high altitudes, this wine invites you to share in the essence of Spain. Enjoy it alongside hearty Spanish classics like peppered steak or meaty “puchero” stew.
