About This Wine

Trailstone

Chardonnay

Tucked into the central part of Washington State, the environment in the Columbia Valley appellation is the polar opposite of what the world typically thinks of the Pacific Northwest. The region sits in the Cascade Mountains rain shadow to the west, which gives it a more desert-like climate. Vines planted in the area see a bit of cooling wind that comes off the mountains, but days are typically sunny and dry. Because of this weather, varietals see little rain, so those that thrive with not much attention during the growing season do best. Our 2019 Trailstone Chardonnay is a classic reflection of a fan-favorite varietal. Round fruit flavors and a creaminess on the palate blend with a minerally texture and a sweetness that coats the tastebuds. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.

Wine Region

Columbia Valley

Sheltered by the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, Columbia Valley is home to the majority of Washington's vineyards. Cool nights keep zippy acidity in the grapes, while long daylight hours give the fruit plenty of chance to ripen. This results in full-bodied Merlot, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon and deeply concentrated Syrah. White wines are just as tantalizing, with toasty oak-touched Chardonnay and ripe stone fruit-flavored Riesling taking the spotlight. Sub-AVAs to look out for are Yakima Valley and Walla Walla. The Columbia Valley is one of the only appellations in the United States to occupy vineyards in two states, as it crosses the Oregon border in the southern part of the valley.

Toasty notes of brioche and vanilla swirl out of the glass and complement a minerally texture. Sweet and round fruit flavors of mango and pineapple burst onto the palate, leaving a creaminess on the tastebuds. Full-bodied and lush, this wine is a true classic.
