About This Wine

Tinto Pesquera

Crianza Tempranillo

Pesquera wines are always made from whole de-stemmed grapes. The grapes are picked and pressed before being poured directly into custom-made wooden barrels. The resulting wine shows the best of Ribera del Duero grapes. It's full of smoke and fruit and a spicy finish.

Wine Region

Ribera del Duero

Spain's Ribera del Duero region is revered among fine wine lovers for its rich, deeply flavored, and long-aging red wines. Lying along the upper valley of the Duero River (which becomes the Duoro as it flows in Portugal), Ribera del Duero's wines are known for their lush black cherry, blackberry and fig notes. As in Rioja, Tempranillo is the principal variety, produced in the area's extreme climate and dry, sandy-clay soils. At around 2,500 feet, night-time temperatures plummet here, while the days can be fiercely hot in the summer months. It is these extreme conditions that help create such extraordinary wines. Some producers add Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec to their Tempranillo. The DO (Denominación de Origen) category within Spain’s wine classifications is the largest portion within the country’s pyramid of quality. Wines are approved to be at DO status when they meet a handful of standards related to authorized varietals, production size, methods within winemaking and aging restrictions. Additionally, appellations must have been recognized for a minimum of five years in order to be considered to be a DO.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Blackcurrant tasting note. Blackcurrant

Powerful with well-rounded tannins to create a velvety, clean wine with fresh varietal notes that reappear under the tongue after the first few seconds in the glass. Notes intermingle with the smoky aromas of impeccable wood. Very pleasant on the palate with a fruity aftertaste, predominantly blackcurrants, and licorice, which give way to a spicy finish.
