About This Wine

Tifosi

Catarratto

Our Tifosi Catarratto invites you to experience a stunning performance. This wine will charm your senses with its complex aromas, citrusy flavors and smooth textures. Much like the nomadic theatre troupes from Italy's Commedia dell'arte, the Catarratto grape has traveled all over the Italian peninsula. It earned admiration along the way, quickly becoming Sicily's most widely planted grape. Today, Catarratto is responsible for some of the island's most prestigious single-varietal wines and blends. Our Tifoso Cattarato grapes are grown in the southwestern part of Sicily. The wine is fermented in stainless steel to allow pure varietal characteristics to perform at their best. Experience an authentic taste of Cattaratto as if you were a local Sicilian by serving it well chilled with grilled fish or tangy cheese. Or sip it solo, taking time to appreciate its silky textures and charming flavor. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.

Wine Region

Sicily / Sicilia

Even among Italy's diverse wine regions, Sicily offers something unique. Abundant sunshine, varied volcanic terroirs, cool coastal breezes and drying African winds make it a perfect place for growing vines. The island is home to many indigenous grape varieties, featuring reds such as Sangiovese, Nero d'Avola and Frappato, and popular white varieties including Vermentino, Catarratto and Zibibbo. As the largest island in the Mediterranean, Sicily's position between Europe, Africa and the Levant has long made it a strategic location. The Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Normans and Arabs have all at various times controlled Sicily, and left their mark on its 4,000-year-old winemaking tradition.
