Wine Region

Sicily / Sicilia

Even among Italy's diverse wine regions, Sicily offers something unique. Abundant sunshine, varied volcanic terroirs, cool coastal breezes and drying African winds make it a perfect place for growing vines. The island is home to many indigenous grape varieties, featuring reds such as Sangiovese, Nero d'Avola and Frappato, and popular white varieties including Vermentino, Catarratto and Zibibbo. As the largest island in the Mediterranean, Sicily's position between Europe, Africa and the Levant has long made it a strategic location. The Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Normans and Arabs have all at various times controlled Sicily, and left their mark on its 4,000-year-old winemaking tradition.

  • A figure representing the Citrus Blossom tasting note. Citrus Blossom
  • A figure representing the Lime tasting note. Lime

Enchanting scents of fresh citrus blossoms and mandarin oranges delight the nose. The body is weightier than one may expect due to moderate sweetness but is lifted by mild acidity. Exotic flavors of lychee and lime marmalade sweep over the palate for a fruity and refreshing finish.
