About This Wine

The Spice & Jam Trading Co.

Malbec

We have an exciting announcement from The Spice & Jam Trading Co: they’ve added a new varietal to their intensely tasty collection! Our 2020 Malbec is bursting with jammy dark fruit flavor and subtle spice. This attention-grabbing wine comes from the historic region of Lodi, California. Here Malbec grapes enjoy a Mediterranean climate, which allows their fruit flavors to ripen fully to levels resulting in flavor-packed wines like this. Although Americans did not identify it as Malbec until years later, this beloved black grape is believed to have journeyed to California around the mid-1800s. Over time, Malbec has made its way into the hearts of wine lovers, earning a spot among some of the most recognized grape varieties. From the brand that’s not afraid to roll up its sleeves to bring you the best of the best, we proudly pass along this taste of California’s wine history. Wine Region

Lodi

The jewel of the Central Valley, Lodi lies just east of the California Delta in an area of varied terroir. Winemakers here can extract different grape variety expressions from each plot of land. Zinfandel is common here, making deeply fruity and tantalizingly smoky wines, often from old vines. But the deep loamy soils and balmy Mediterranean climate, with its warm days and cool nights, help keep Lodi's grape varieties and winemaking styles impressively diverse. Alongside the ubiquitous Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Viognier also thrive. Lodi is a melting pot of different grape varieties and winemaking techniques, all of which make it a rewarding region to explore.

  • A figure representing the Mulberry tasting note. Mulberry
  • A figure representing the Fruit Preserves tasting note. Fruit Preserves

Aromas of ripe redcurrant and a touch of spice are a subtle introduction to an otherwise intense wine. A full-bodied palate presents big jammy fruit flavor with preserved mulberry notes and a round mouthfeel created by gentle acidity and soft tannins.
