About This Wine

The Seven Deadly Zins

Zinfandel

Sinful indeed! This wickedly delicious Zin is temptation at first sip. Brothers and winemakers, Michael and David Phillips, have a lust for hedonistically seductive wine. Their flagship Old Vine Zinfandel hails from the enviable Lodi Appellation, where Zin reigns supreme. For six generations, they’ve given their souls to growing the finest grapes so that saints and sinners alike can enjoy the 7 Deadly Zins. Savory pepper aromas make this wine appetizing; its rich berry and ripe plum flavors bring excellent concentration and depth to the palate. It’s big and bold yet polished. Firm tannins interlacing with ripeness and spiciness to keep it balanced and help propel a lingering finish.

The Seven Deadly Zins 2017 Zinfandel Lodi, California

Wine Region

Lodi

The jewel of the Central Valley, Lodi lies just east of the California Delta in an area of varied terroir. Winemakers here can extract different grape variety expressions from each plot of land. Zinfandel is common here, making deeply fruity and tantalizingly smoky wines, often from old vines. But the deep loamy soils and balmy Mediterranean climate, with its warm days and cool nights, help keep Lodi's grape varieties and winemaking styles impressively diverse. Alongside the ubiquitous Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Viognier also thrive. Lodi is a melting pot of different grape varieties and winemaking techniques, all of which make it a rewarding region to explore.

What a delicious and savory wine. It's appetizing with rich berry and plum flavors that play off of pepper notes. It has bold, big flavor, concentration, and depth on the palate. It's polished while still being indulgent. The tannins play off the ripeness to keep it balanced.
