About This Wine

The Prisoner Wine Company

Saldo Zinfandel

While sampling grapes from fine-quality vineyards to make The Prisoner, we came across many that, although not right for that distinctive Napa Valley blend, were just too good to let go. We created Saldo to feature this outstanding fruit from Dry Creek, Lodi, and Amador, where Zinfandel has thrived for decades. 85% Zinfandel, 15% Blend of Petite Sirah and Syrah. 25% New French and American oak barrels.

Wine Region

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.

Dark ruby color with bold aromas of black licorice, black pepper, cherry, and baking spice. Rich, full, and scintillating with a mouthwatering palate with a hint of chocolate. The finish is voluptuous with soft, velvety tannins.
