About This Wine

Tallax

Shiraz – Cabernet Sauvignon

Meet the newest addition to our Australian wine portfolio! Tallax combines the expected and unexpected, introducing you to new twists on classic styles. Our Red Blend is Australia's take on two traditional French varietals. This jammy wine features loads of ripe fruit notes with toasty oak characteristics. It is a near-even split of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, with Shiraz leading the blend. In France, Shiraz (a.k.a. Syrah) is associated with the wines of the Rhône Valley, whereas Cabernet's reputation is linked to Bordeaux. These two grapes are rarely blended in their home country due to strict traditional regulations, begging the question, what would happen? Eager to find out, Australian producers created the first Shiraz-Cabernet blend in the mid-1900s. These rich and flavorful reds quickly soared in popularity and are now considered a true Australian specialty. We invite you to fall in love with the perfect matchup that nearly went undiscovered. Tallax 2020 Shiraz – Cabernet Sauvignon South Eastern Australia

Wine Region

South Eastern Australia

Covering the entire southeastern third of the country, the South Eastern Australia designation is a vast area (over 1,200 miles long and encompassing the regions of South Australia, New South Wales and Tasmania). Many of Australia's best wines are made here. From the stunning Shiraz produced around Adelaide to the luscious Sémillons of the Hunter Valley, and from the fragrant Pinot Noirs of Tasmania to the lush Chardonnay of Riverina, nearly every grape variety and wine style flourishes in South Eastern Australia, basking in the sun-kissed Mediterranean climate and rich, varied soils.

Our Red Blend is bursting with fruit flavor. Cranberry and strawberry aromas evolve into mulberry flavors on the palate, where acidity and tannins provide a balance. On the finish, concentrated blackberry notes join caramel and vanilla to make each sip satisfying.
