Syrah

To grow great wine grapes a farmer needs a few things: the right soil, clean water, and rich sunshine. Thankfully the vineyards of California have all of those things in abundance. The Sunscript Syrah is juicy, with tastes of dark red fruit. The notes of raspberry and blackberry play off of the pepper, violet, and vanilla secondary flavors. The extended aging in oak left the Sunscript with beautifully integrated tannins. The heft of this wine allows it to pair with fuller bodied dishes like braised pork, spicy sausage, or roasted mushrooms. Judges love it too and sent it home from the 2019 Critics Challenge with 90 Points and a Gold medal!

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.
