About This Wine

Substance

‘Cs’ Cabernet Sauvignon

FROM THE WINERY: The original thought was to be a one wine brand, with a single-minded vision to produce the best value-priced Cabernet Sauvignon in America. How do you go about this? Traditional winemaking. Natural fermentation. Barrel-aging. Plus, bottling unfiltered and unfined. In essence, making the wines in small batch winemaking integrity, but doing so on a larger scale.

Substance 2018 ‘Cs’ Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley, Washington

Wine Region

Columbia Valley

Sheltered by the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, Columbia Valley is home to the majority of Washington's vineyards. Cool nights keep zippy acidity in the grapes, while long daylight hours give the fruit plenty of chance to ripen. This results in full-bodied Merlot, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon and deeply concentrated Syrah. White wines are just as tantalizing, with toasty oak-touched Chardonnay and ripe stone fruit-flavored Riesling taking the spotlight. Sub-AVAs to look out for are Yakima Valley and Walla Walla. The Columbia Valley is one of the only appellations in the United States to occupy vineyards in two states, as it crosses the Oregon border in the southern part of the valley.

  • A figure representing the Blackberry tasting note. Blackberry

Deep blue and black in color. Mouth-filling layers of blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar box and crushed stone. Death-defying balance and a firm, rich finish that seems to never end.
