About This Wine

Robert Mondavi

Cabernet Sauvignon

Fruit for this wine comes from regions specially selected for their contributions to a blend that is a true reflection of place, a gorgeous expression of Napa Valley. Portions of the fruit come from two of the valley’s most renowned sub-appellations and vineyards: our To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville on the well-drained alluvial bench surrounding the winery, and our Wappo Hill Vineyard in the Stags Leap district. Aged 16 months in order to develop greater roundness and depth.

Robert Mondavi 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, California

Wine Region

Napa Valley

Napa gained international acclaim following the Judgement of Paris in 1976, when its wines defeated its French counterparts in a blind tasting. Napa's signature wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and various Bordeaux blends, but many other varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc also thrive here. With 16 sub-AVAs and a Mediterranean climate with rich geology, Napa is a winemaker's dream. The winegrowing region runs between the Mayacamas Mountains and Vaca Mountains for 30 miles, from Calistoga to Los Carneros. Napa has a wide array of soil types for such a small region, from volcanic foothills to alluvial valley floors, which help to produce varied and complex wines.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Cloves tasting note. Cloves
  • A figure representing the Spices tasting note. Spices
  • A figure representing the Blackberry tasting note. Blackberry

A beautiful nose redolent of fresh, ripe blackberry and black plum jam, gently framed by notes of dried thyme and toast. On the palate, the wine is full and juicy, brimming with more black fruit and touches of bittersweet chocolate, mint, and dried straw. Generous and harmonious, with velvety tannins and a long, smooth finish.
