About This Wine

Rakes Point Merroir

Sauvignon Blanc

Wines are often described as having terroir, which is defined as a “sense of place.” It means that you can taste where a wine has come from. Oysters are the same, and we wanted to find a wine that can showcase the merroir of our favorite Ocean food. Whether you enjoy the sweetness of a West Coast oyster or the brine of the East Coast, the Rakes Point Merroir Sauvignon Blanc will be the perfect pairing. With light hints of Clementine, grapefruit, and lime dancing around basil and wet stone, it is complex without overwhelming the delicate flavors of the sea. We can’t wait for you to try it with a half dozen of our country’s finest oysters. Judges love it too! It has taken home a Silver medal from the 2020 West Coast Wine Competition and at the 2019 Sommelier Challenge.

And this wine has a fun surprise! Use the attached UV light to reveal a hidden design on the front label.

Wine Region

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.

The perfect oyster wine, period. This is a crisp Sauvignon Blanc that will pair best with oysters but is a great choice for any fresh seafood or vegetables.
