About This Wine

Quartz Bay

Sauvignon Blanc

Since the first vineyards began popping up in the 1970s, the Marlborough region of New Zealand’s South Island has become renowned as a premier source of Sauvignon Blanc. It’s easy to see why. The stony, mineral-rich river flats are a winemaker’s dream, producing lush nutrient dense fruit with good minerality and a bright crispness. These Sauvignon Blancs our some of our favorites in the world and whenever we get the chance to order some for our members, we make sure to buy up as much as we can.

Cool, refreshing, and prepared with meticulous care, the Quartz Bay 2016 is an example of Marlborough Sauvignon at its very best. Working to capture crisp aromatics and flavor, the grapes were harvested and pressed the night before being cool-fermented to perfection. Still not satisfied, the makers of Quartz Bay then blended only the best batches to create an exquisite, refreshing, and extremely food-friendly Sauvignon Blanc.

The extra effort to seal in those crisp aromas and flavors certainly pays off. On the palate, strong notes of grapefruit give off perfectly balanced acidity. The perfect compliment to a meal or as an aperitif, this Sauvignon Blanc is flexible and easy to drink during practically any occasion.

Wine Region

Marlborough

New Zealand's Marlborough region is arguably its most important, a name synonymous with the country's distinctive world-class Sauvignon Blancs. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc—with its tropical fruit, gooseberry and herbaceous notes—is one of a kind. And it is all thanks to Marlborough's terroir: a large, gravelly river valley inland of Cloudy Bay at the northeast tip of the South Island, it enjoys long, warm, maritime-influenced summers. But Marlborough isn't only about Sauvignon Blanc. The region also produces exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, sparkling wine and both dry and sweet Riesling.
