About This Wine

Pont du Nord Contre Sud

Grenache

The unifiers of new and old Pont du Nord Contre Sud present an exciting debut. Our Grenache features the bright, red fruit flavors of New World wine styles, with the structure, dryness and varietal authenticity of the Old World. The vineyards grow in cool clay and nutrient-rich limestone soils, and the French winemakers who serve as our local partners have worked in the Pays d’Oc for nearly 20 years. The region’s reliably warm weather provides ample heat for ripening with drying winds to protect vines from potentially wet coastal conditions, making it well suited to many grape varieties. This is a unique place to capture Old World allure, with the stylistic freedom to experience modern takes on tradition. Our complex, fruit-forward Grenache is a delicious example of this region’s diversity, perfect for sharing with friends of all taste preferences. Pont du Nord Contre Sud 2020 Grenache Pays d'Oc IGP, France

Wine Region

Pays d'Oc

If you've vacationed in the south of France, you've probably visited the Pays d'Oc region. Embracing the Mediterranean from Spain to Provence, this region is famed as much for its Grenache, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as its endless sunshine. Pays d'Oc covers non-AOC wines made across this large, sun-kissed region, known as France's "New World." Far from the regulations of the AOC system, pioneering winemakers headed here to experiment, crafting many now-famous wines that often state their grape variety on the label—not something that was common in France before then. IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée) within France’s wine classification system focuses on controlling regional and geographical origin. The category is less restrictive than the AOC classification and gives winemakers more freedom with style and taste profile when creating wines.

Our Grenache presents notes of cedar and sandalwood with hints of cinnamon stick. The medium body offers ripe blackberry and strawberry flavors supported by modest acidity and a firm tannic grip. The texture and rich fruit character make it exceptionally enjoyable when paired with food.
