Picklock 2018 Syrah Mendocino County, California

Wine Region

Mendocino County

One of the unsung regions of the North Coast, Mendocino County enjoys some of California's finest cool-climate terroirs. Lying north of Sonoma, it is home to 12 separate AVAs, spread through sleepy valleys and long, rugged coastlines—much of which exudes a rustic, laid-back feel. Mendocino delights fans of top-quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and sparkling wine, but there is also plenty of fine Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Syrah made in its warmer sites too. Mendocino is also famous for its high number of organic-certified vineyards, reflecting the general "off-grid" hippie nature of its winemaking pioneers.

  • A figure representing the Black Cherry tasting note. Black Cherry

Lush and ripe dark red fruit flavors of dried cherry, ripe black cherry, and blackberry are complemented by more aromatic flavors like Herbs de Provence, white pepper, and lavender. A cooler climate brings out an approachable acidity, making this wine rich and soft.
