About This Wine

Penrose Hill

Chardonnay

One could argue that when it comes to Chardonnay outside of France, it doesn’t get better than the Napa Valley in beautiful Northern California. Chardonnay thrives in a climate like Napa, where hot and dry days are moderated by cooler temperatures at night. Frequent foggy mornings quickly become bluebird sunny days which gives fruit the opportunity to both develop highly concentrated flavors and also ripen fully. This wine is an absolute classic. Fruit selected for the wine was aged in both oak barrels and stainless-steel tanks. The juice aged in barrels was left on the lees which created the varietal signature creaminess and caramel-like notes in the finished product. With stone fruit flavors and a toasted nuttiness shining through, this medium-bodied wine is perfect for sipping while dining al fresco. Pair with fresh green salads during summer months and your favorite roast chicken dish in the winter.

Wine Region

Napa Valley

Napa gained international acclaim following the Judgement of Paris in 1976, when its wines defeated its French counterparts in a blind tasting. Napa's signature wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and various Bordeaux blends, but many other varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc also thrive here. With 16 sub-AVAs and a Mediterranean climate with rich geology, Napa is a winemaker's dream. The winegrowing region runs between the Mayacamas Mountains and Vaca Mountains for 30 miles, from Calistoga to Los Carneros. Napa has a wide array of soil types for such a small region, from volcanic foothills to alluvial valley floors, which help to produce varied and complex wines.

Thanks to oak influences, notes of brioche and toasted hazelnut pop out of the glass. When sipped, stone fruit flavors are complemented by a crème brûlée roundness. A rich and full mouthfeel makes each sip linger. Guaranteed to be loved by all who adore this classic varietal!
