About This Wine

Penrose Hill

Cabernet Sauvignon

If you’re looking for a quintessential Cabernet Sauvignon, look no further. This is a red with a balance and elegance that needs to be tasted to be believed. The vintners at Penrose Hill grew the grapes on four different soils before bringing them together for the final blend. The result is a full, fruit-forward wine with smooth tannins that lead to a lingering finish. Beneath the dark ruby color, you’ll discover an intense palate of black cherry, blackberry and cassis, combined with earthy notes of graphite cedar, and tobacco. This is a dinner party favorite that’s bound to get the table talking. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.

Wine Region

Napa Valley

Napa gained international acclaim following the Judgement of Paris in 1976, when its wines defeated its French counterparts in a blind tasting. Napa's signature wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and various Bordeaux blends, but many other varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc also thrive here. With 16 sub-AVAs and a Mediterranean climate with rich geology, Napa is a winemaker's dream. The winegrowing region runs between the Mayacamas Mountains and Vaca Mountains for 30 miles, from Calistoga to Los Carneros. Napa has a wide array of soil types for such a small region, from volcanic foothills to alluvial valley floors, which help to produce varied and complex wines.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Plum tasting note. Plum
  • A figure representing the Blackcurrant tasting note. Blackcurrant
  • A figure representing the Black Cherry tasting note. Black Cherry

A dark, ruby, colorful 'palette' of black currant (cassis), ripe plum, and black cherry indicates that these grapes were picked at the peak of perfection. Add to this a balanced and rich mouthfeel, structured tannins with integrated oak and cedar notes, and a lingering finish.
