About This Wine

Open Secret

Cabernet Sauvignon

The Columbia Valley offers the perfect silty soil and temperate climate to create rich, full-bodied wines like the Open Secret Cabernet Sauvignon. 300 days of sunshine per year gives the Cabernet grapes a consistent growing period to become beautifully ripened. Sip it slow and taste the blackberry, black cherry, and cassis notes. Non-fruit notes of licorice, potpourri, and baking spices give the wine depth and complexity that pair well with grilled veggies, burgers, and short ribs. Salty dishes like soy-marinated meats or tofu and gorgonzola cheese are also ideal dishes. With the Open Secret, you’ve got a great reason to sit awhile and savor the beautiful tastes. Judges love it too! It took home a Silver medal from the 2020 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the 2020 West Coast Wine Competition and the 2019 Harvest Challenge.

Wine Region

Columbia Valley

Sheltered by the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, Columbia Valley is home to the majority of Washington's vineyards. Cool nights keep zippy acidity in the grapes, while long daylight hours give the fruit plenty of chance to ripen. This results in full-bodied Merlot, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon and deeply concentrated Syrah. White wines are just as tantalizing, with toasty oak-touched Chardonnay and ripe stone fruit-flavored Riesling taking the spotlight. Sub-AVAs to look out for are Yakima Valley and Walla Walla. The Columbia Valley is one of the only appellations in the United States to occupy vineyards in two states, as it crosses the Oregon border in the southern part of the valley.
