About This Wine

Old Quarter

Cabernet Sauvignon

Often compared to California’s Napa Valley, Chile’s verdant Central Valley is one of the few spots in the world with the rare blend of warm sunlit days and cool, temperate evenings that make it ideally suited for viticulture. With vineyards dating back to the 18th century, the area has a long tradition of utilizing the rich, volcanic soil to produce vines with perfectly ripe, juicy grapes. These factors combined with the influx of capital and new technologies in the 1990’s, make the region one of the strongest producers of fine wines in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Old Quarter 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is proof of the Central Valley’s excellence. Delighting the palate with a profound feeling of elegance, flavors of plum and raspberry form the core of the profile, with subtle accents of herbs and olives on the finish. The comfortable, silky texture of this wine allows it to pair easily with food and makes it the perfect accompaniment for long, lingering dinners for two. This incredible wine was a hit with judges too: it won silver medals at the 2016 Harvest Challenge and the 2017 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition!

Wine Region

Chile

In recent years, Chile has increasingly produced incredible wines of exceptional value. With a setting influenced by the Andes Mountains, the Pacific Ocean, the Atacama Desert and even Antarctica, Chile is a diverse land with rocky foothills, lush valley floors and cool coastal zones. Chile gained international renown for its New World take on classic Bordeaux varieties. Interestingly, it's an obscure red Bordeaux variety—Carménère—that has become Chile's signature grape. But other Old World varieties do equally well in Chile; Pinot Noir, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay have all become mainstays of Chilean wine, exhibiting impressive levels of quality and balance in the country's distinct terroirs.
