There is no purer expression of a varietal than one from its native region, produced from a historic vineyard. So when we discovered Nine Mile Road, an exemplary Australian Shiraz from a single-estate vineyard, we procured as much as possible for our members. Sourced from Metala Vineyards, a winery that has grown Shiraz for over a century, Nine Mile Road is a perfect introduction to the bold, flavorful characteristics of Australian wine.

The Land Down Under is famous for taking well-known European grapes and giving them a new personality. From bold, jammy Shiraz to creamy oak-tinged Chardonnay, herbaceous Sémillon to distinctively citrusy Riesling, when it comes to quality, Australian wine can be breathtaking. This is thanks to its variety of climates and terroirs. Australia is roughly the same size as the continental United States, with temperatures ranging from searingly hot to moderately cool. The best regions have warm days and cool nights, tempered by breezes from the Southern and Indian Oceans.
