About This Wine

Nekia Hill Vineyards

Pinot Gris

Many winemakers believe that Oregon is the only place in the United States with proper growing conditions for Pinot Gris. California, for example, is too hot, Oregon's marginal climate with long, temperate summer days and cooler autumn nights needs colder temperatures to ripen fully and produce its distinct flavors and aromas. Our 2017 vintage is an exceptional expression of this global varietal and our specific microcosm.

Wine Region

Willamette Valley

The Willamette Valley is understandably most often associated with Pinot Noir. The cool-climate region has a unique relationship to this most delicate (and temperamental!) red wine grape. Lying on the same latitude as Burgundy in France, the Willamette Valley enjoys the perfect balance of sunshine and rain, proximity to the Pacific Ocean and protection on either side by the Coast Range and the Cascade Mountains. Along its 100 miles, the Willamette Valley boasts many distinct terroirs, so among its many brightly fruity, elegantly structured and blissfully fragrant Pinots, you'll also find exceptional Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Riesling.
