About This Wine

Musa Noctuaria

Verdejo

As if multiple 90+ point awards and Gold Medals were not enough, Musa Noctuaria has once again unveiled a captivating new release. Our 2020 Verdejo is balanced and complex, with concentrated flavors of candied fruit and citrus. Our Spanish winemaking partners harness the power of sandy soils with pockets of clay. These sections of slow-draining soil capture what little rainfall this region offers and hold onto cool, nighttime temperatures long after the hot summer sun emerges. This results in an elegant yet fruity wine style with an intense aromatic lift. The winemakers then accentuate these qualities by fermenting the wine slowly in stainless steel at cool temperatures for 15 days, further preserving Verdejo’s beloved varietal characteristics. This wine is at its best when served well chilled. Pair it with grilled chicken or shredded pork sprinkled with salty cheeses like feta or queso fresco to amplify its fruity character. Wine Region

Spain

While its reputation as a serious wine destination was eclipsed by France and Italy for many years, ignoring Spain today means missing out on some of the world's most exciting wines. Enjoying hundreds of miles of sun-kissed coastline and rocky interiors at higher elevations, Spain provides an ideal location for vineyards. Whether it is sparkling cavas from Catalonia, crisp Verdejos from Rueda, sublime Tempranillos from Ribera del Duero or inky Monastrells from Valencia, Spain has many wine styles to explore, all expressing the country's wildly unique terroir.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Grapefruit tasting note. Grapefruit
  • A figure representing the Candied Fruit tasting note. Candied Fruit
  • A figure representing the Lime tasting note. Lime

A bouquet of fresh floral aromatics opens up on the nose. Although our Verdejo offers a plush and round palate filled with flavors of candied orange peel, ripe peach, and lemon curd, it is not sweet. The wine is intensely fruity but has low residual grape sugar.
