This native Greek varietal is comparable to a lighter-styled Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon. Greece’s Mediterranean climate offers high temperatures throughout the growing season while the ocean plays a welcome role, moderating temperatures through coastal winds and storms. This hardy red grape is thought to be the preferred wine of Hercules and remains a staple among the locals due to its stylistic versatility and reliable yields in the vineyard.
