About This Wine

Mannaggia All'Alba

Sangiovese

This exceptional wine is part of our Fine Wine Collection.

Winemaking Crafted with minimal intervention, this wine showcases the pure, savory essence of Rubicone’s storied terroir. While gentle extraction techniques were used to draw out fine tannins, bright acidity and fresh fruit, the winemakers chose to maintain the rustic yet refined characteristics of the Sangiovese grape and unique personality of the region. The winemakers for the most part chose to simply allow nature to do its own work in producing this delicious wine.

Vintage The 2023 vintage from Rubicone, Italy benefited from a warm and consistent growing season, combined with cool winds and weather fronts from the Adriatic Sea. These ideal conditions, alongside mineral-rich clay and limestone soil, fostered a robust and balanced growth cycle for Sangiovese. Additionally, 2023 saw the use of carefully timed harvesting and gentle extraction techniques to produce grapes that showcase the harmony and authenticity of this celebrated Italian terroir.

Pairing Logic This elegant and classically rustic Sangiovese pairs exquisitely with braised meats, hearty stews, and traditional tomato-based dishes, allowing its black cherry and dried herb nuances to meld seamlessly with rich, savory flavors. Earthy mushrooms, aged cheeses, and rosemary-infused recipes will further highlight its tannins and subtle spice, creating a balanced and deeply satisfying dining experience.

Wine Region

Rubicone

Crossing the Rubicone was a momentous event for Julius Caesar, although it is difficult to feel the significance today while standing on the banks of this sleepy rural river. The Rubicone includes wines produced in the eastern part of the Emilia-Romagna region, from the hills of Bologna to the Adriatic coast. Sangiovese reigns here, thriving in the rocky Apennine foothills and fertile plains. Modern examples add Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, while more traditional wines blend in the local Pignoletto and Ancellotta varieties. Whites are often made from Trebbiano, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Overall, Rubicone wines are well balanced and deliciously quaffable—this is not surprising for a region like Emilia-Romagna, where food and wine are inseparable.
