About This Wine

Luna Benegas

Cabernet Sauvignon

Based out of Napa, California, Luna Vineyards is one of the region’s premiere Cabernet Sauvignon producers, with a 2012 vintage that scored 98 points and took Best of Class at the 2015 Los Angeles International Wine Competition.

The 2013 vintage builds upon this heritage, after Luna’s prized collection of vineyards experienced a year of ideal weather conditions. The growing season’s warm days and cool nights developed sophisticated characteristics of condensed fruits and soft tannins. Luna took advantage of these exceptional grapes through a period of extended maceration, extracting maximum flavors of cassis and ripe blackberry. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, giving the cabernet its layered flavor and developing its medium structure.

Luna Vineyards’ 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant expression of California winemaking with an award-winning pedigree. Aromas of anise and dark fruits flow to slight clove and cinnamon spices, leading to a long velvety finish. This wine is an ideal pairing to both lean meats and rich, cream-based pasta dishes.

Wine Region

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.
