About This Wine

Literaria '42

Sauvignon Blanc

Our Literaria ‘42 Sauvignon Blanc is a sterling model of its Chilean identity. This fresh wine features mouthwatering textures and expressive tropical fruit flavors. These bright and refreshing wines have become a well-known source of excellent value on the global market. As Chile’s most widely planted white grape variety, Sauvignon Blanc flourishes in vineyards around the country but is especially at home in the Maule Valley, which enjoys sublime growing conditions. A Mediterranean climate fills the days with sunshine, while nights are cooled by brisk mountain air from the nearby Andes. These natural elements drive our wine’s distinct textures and rich flavor profile, while our local winemaking partners take advantage of the benefits of this well-suited environment. Literaria ‘42 offers a taste of Chilean spirit, and this 2021 vintage is no exception. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.

Literaria '42 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Maule Valley DO, Chile

Wine Region

Maule Valley

When it comes to well-balanced reds of great value, Chile's Maule Valley is hard to beat. The southernmost part of Chile's Central Valley, Maule is a large sub-region with many microclimates and soil types. The Maule River and the nearby Pacific Ocean both greatly influence its climate. Maule was one of the first places in Chile planted with grapevines. It is famed today for its 100-year-old Carignan vines and the densely sumptuous wines they produce. More typical, however, are its powerful Cabernet Sauvignon, spicy aromatic Carménère and plush Merlot reds. For whites, check out Maule's cheery Sauvignon Blanc and rounded Chardonnay. Chile’s Denominación de Origen (DO) classification system focuses on separating wines by the physical location of origin. To use the DO classification on a label, a producer must have pulled 85 percent of the fruit used in a wine from a defined regional location. The DO system names wine regions in the country from north to south.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Melon tasting note. Melon
  • A figure representing the Mineral tasting note. Mineral
  • A figure representing the Guava tasting note. Guava

Every aspect of this wine is uplifting and animated. The nose is lively and clean with aromas of freshly cut pineapple. A lean and crisp mouthfeel joins exotic notes of guava and melon undercut by a rich, textural minerality that leaves a lasting impression on the palate.
