About This Wine

Les Bottes à Terre

Grenache Blanc

This exceptional wine is part of our Fine Wine Collection.

Winemaking In light of the autumn heat waves in 2022, a swift machine harvest was crucial to preserve Grenache Blanc’s natural acidity and delicate aromas. After meticulous sorting, the grapes are pressed, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. Low fermentation temperatures safeguard the wine’s freshness and allow its varietal character to shine through. The result shows off Grenache Blanc’s New World style without losing its classic French elegance.

Vintage 2022 was a warm vintage in the vineyards of Paso Robles. After a dry winter and frosty spring reduced crop sizes, the grapes enjoyed a tranquil summer filled with sunny days and cool nights. Autumn introduced several heat waves that accelerated ripening. Winegrowers beat the heat by harvesting white grapes in early August before the hottest spikes in September. These conditions have shaped our Grenache Blanc’s fuller, New World style, featuring ripe fruit notes and lively acidity.

Pairing Logic While this is an American wine, its Southern Rhône roots make it a fool-proof pairing to French-inspired recipes. For protein dishes, play into its minerality and enhance its fruit notes with salt-brined poultry or tender white fish. Roasted vegetables, topped with a fresh squeeze of lemon, will complement the wine’s mouthwatering acidity, while creamy sauces and cheeses will make these crisp textures shine even brighter.

Wine Region

Paso Robles

California's fastest-growing wine region is quickly gaining an international reputation for its innovative and boundary-breaking wines. Located halfway between LA and San Francisco, the Paso Robles AVA in San Luis Obispo County has two main zones. The eastern side has a hot and sunny climate with deep, rich soils producing plush, fruity wines with sweet ripe flavors. To the west, the cooling influence of the Pacific brings a zingy backbone to rich Zinfandel and Rhône favorites like Syrah and Viognier. Italian varietals like Sangiovese and Nebbiolo are also favorites of Paso Robles grape growers and wine drinkers.
