About This Wine

La Douleur Exquise

Pinot Noir

With 38 total awards, La Douleur Exquise continues to roll out winning wines. Our Pinot Noir from France’s Pays d’Oc presents an alluring array of bright red fruit flavors complemented by savory notes. In a country with some of the wine world’s strictest regulations, the Pays d’Oc in southern France offers winemakers the opportunity to test their skills, experimenting with different grape varieties and wine styles that challenge tradition. Like this highly awarded brand, many ambitious winemakers find fortune in the region’s temperate Mediterranean climate. Long summers drench vineyards in sunlight with cooling northern winds that prevent overripening, while clay and limestone soils maintain moisture throughout the dry growing season, providing the nutrients necessary to produce plump, ripe berries. Our Pinot Noir is fresh and fruit forward. Take this bottle along to your next game night as a sure bet your friends are guaranteed to love. La Douleur Exquise 2020 Pinot Noir Pays d'Oc IGP, France

Wine Region

Pays d'Oc

If you've vacationed in the south of France, you've probably visited the Pays d'Oc region. Embracing the Mediterranean from Spain to Provence, this region is famed as much for its Grenache, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as its endless sunshine. Pays d'Oc covers non-AOC wines made across this large, sun-kissed region, known as France's "New World." Far from the regulations of the AOC system, pioneering winemakers headed here to experiment, crafting many now-famous wines that often state their grape variety on the label—not something that was common in France before then. IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée) within France’s wine classification system focuses on controlling regional and geographical origin. The category is less restrictive than the AOC classification and gives winemakers more freedom with style and taste profile when creating wines.

  • A figure representing the Strawberry tasting note. Strawberry
  • A figure representing the Fresh Herbs tasting note. Fresh Herbs

Our Pinot Noir combines Old and New World styles. Fresh herb aromas represent a classic French style before a fuller body offers a more modern fruit-focused expression of this grape. Gentle acidity and delicate tannins create a soft palate filled with strawberry and pomegranate flavors.
