About This Wine

La Douleur Exquise

Grenache

You can always bet on La Douleur Exquise to bring a winner to the table. The new vintage of our “Best of Class” Grenache offers a delicious balance of ripe red fruit flavors and dynamic spice. This wine is crafted for the true Grenache lover and features the variety’s beloved textures and flavors. Our winemaking partners in the Pays d’Oc region of southern France work in harmony with the environment, taking advantage of the region’s temperate Mediterranean climate and nurturing soils. A long, hot summer allowed this inherently fruit-forward variety to ripen to plump perfection while cool sea breezes helped protect its delicate acidity. This bottle is another addition to La Douleur Exquise’s high-rolling collection of wines, which boasts an impressive total of 38 awards. Serve it alongside grilled meats or salty cheeses for a winning combination at your next social event. Scroll through the image carousel above to learn more about this wine.

La Douleur Exquise 2020 Grenache Pays d'Oc IGP, France

Wine Region

Pays d'Oc

If you've vacationed in the south of France, you've probably visited the Pays d'Oc region. Embracing the Mediterranean from Spain to Provence, this region is famed as much for its Grenache, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay as its endless sunshine. Pays d'Oc covers non-AOC wines made across this large, sun-kissed region, known as France's "New World." Far from the regulations of the AOC system, pioneering winemakers headed here to experiment, crafting many now-famous wines that often state their grape variety on the label—not something that was common in France before then. IGP (Indication Géographique Protégée) within France’s wine classification system focuses on controlling regional and geographical origin. The category is less restrictive than the AOC classification and gives winemakers more freedom with style and taste profile when creating wines.

  • A figure representing the Strawberry tasting note. Strawberry
  • A figure representing the White Pepper tasting note. White Pepper

Savory oregano and cinnamon stick aromas accompany scents of prickly white pepper. The palate is light-bodied and soft in texture but flaunts a complex flavor profile featuring bright strawberry, raspberry, and clove. A dry finish leaves the palate feeling clean and ready for the next sip.
