Grenache
While Grenache is the most planted red wine varietal in the world, finding the perfect planting location is a challenge. Growing truly exceptional Grenache requires hotter and drier conditions than most reds during the day, and, at the same time, cool, low-humidity climates at night. Thankfully, California’s Santa Ynez valley provides the perfect equilibrium of climatic conditions. And, with a better than average balance of warm days and cool nights in valley, 2012 was a particularly stellar year for growing Grenache.
The Kita 2012 Grenache is a fragrant, aromatic wine that captivates the senses with an elegant mix of fruits and spices. Strawberry and raspberry predominate in the nose, along with aromas of white pepper and hints of allspice. In the mouth, notes of tangy red fruit are followed by further layers of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. With a soft, even finish, this wine is the perfect complement to a romantic dinner for two.
