About This Wine

Kimmel

Cabernet Sauvignon

Raised in a household committed to its Italian roots, master winemaker Bruce Regalia deeply understands the importance of good, drinkable wine within the fabric of daily life. With a strong sense of taste and smell, Bruce has, throughout his 30-year career, impressed us with elegant, yet drinkable wines. With a huge number of award-winning, 90+ point wines under his belt, we were excited when the opportunity came for us to introduce (or reintroduce) Bruce to our members with this incredible wine!

The 2014 Four Blocks Cabernet Sauvignon showcases exactly what makes Bruce’s wines so special. Sourced from the Potter Valley in Mendocino County, part of what makes this Cabernet so expressive and flavorful are the old vine grapes. See, while old vines grow less grapes, those they do produce get a larger share of the nutrients and sunlight than those from young vines. Which means that even though the yield is lower, the quality of the grapes more than makes up for it. Old vine grapes have a lush, nutrient dense fruitfulness that grapes from younger vines can't compete with.

The other part of what makes this wine so good is, unsurprisingly, Bruce. With his strong sense of flavor, Bruce teased out notes of ripe black currant, cherry, tobacco and mint, melding them into this complex and delicious wine. With supple tannins and a long finish this wine is a delight down to the last drop.

Wine Region

Mendocino County

One of the unsung regions of the North Coast, Mendocino County enjoys some of California's finest cool-climate terroirs. Lying north of Sonoma, it is home to 12 separate AVAs, spread through sleepy valleys and long, rugged coastlines—much of which exudes a rustic, laid-back feel. Mendocino delights fans of top-quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and sparkling wine, but there is also plenty of fine Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Syrah made in its warmer sites too. Mendocino is also famous for its high number of organic-certified vineyards, reflecting the general "off-grid" hippie nature of its winemaking pioneers.
