About This Wine

Kim Crawford

Sauvignon Blanc

FROM THE WINERY: The secret to Kim Crawford’s success is serious attention to detail in the vineyards and winery, with a special focus on sustainable practices, individual vineyard block harvesting, and small-lot fermentation. To retain the character of each subregion and block and use them to the best advantage, each block was handled individually to capture the special characteristics of the vineyard parcel. We aged in French oak to allow the sweet and structural influences from the oak to mingle seamlessly with the rich fruit and ripe tannins. The result is an evocative wine that is well-balanced, richly flavored, and deliciously complex.

Kim Crawford 2019 Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough, New Zealand

Wine Region

Marlborough

New Zealand's Marlborough region is arguably its most important, a name synonymous with the country's distinctive world-class Sauvignon Blancs. Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc—with its tropical fruit, gooseberry and herbaceous notes—is one of a kind. And it is all thanks to Marlborough's terroir: a large, gravelly river valley inland of Cloudy Bay at the northeast tip of the South Island, it enjoys long, warm, maritime-influenced summers. But Marlborough isn't only about Sauvignon Blanc. The region also produces exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, sparkling wine and both dry and sweet Riesling.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Tropical Fruit tasting note. Tropical Fruit
  • A figure representing the Lemon tasting note. Lemon

Grapes from Wairau Valley provided classic passion fruit and grapefruit aromas, while grapes from the Awatere Valley and Southern Valley contributed lemon, lime, and fresh herbs. When combined, these individual parcels deliver the potpourri of aromas and dense concentration of flavors that characterize Kim Crawford’s signature Sauvignon Blanc style.
