About This Wine

Juggernaut

Hillside Cabernet Sauvignon

French oak beautifully transforms intense hillside fruit into a wine with uncommon richness and smooth, luxurious texture. Juggernaut Hillside Cabernet is a wine that is fierce, brave, and delicious. Steep hillside vineyards present the ultimate challenge. Mountainous terrain tests both the grower and the vine, but the results can be extraordinary. Hillside vineyards have less access to water, with the rockier soil also holding fewer nutrients. These conditions stress the vines, resulting in the production of a fraction of the fruit of most vineyards. Hillside vineyards are special. So is the wine that is crafted from them.

Wine Region

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Licorice tasting note. Licorice
  • A figure representing the Vanilla tasting note. Vanilla
  • A figure representing the Blackcurrant tasting note. Blackcurrant

The hillside environment causes vines to struggle, yielding fewer clusters and smaller berry size. The result is berries that are loaded with rich, ripe, intensely concentrated flavors and complexity. These flavors are dense and velvety, with vanilla and ripe blackcurrants. Then on the nose, the wine shows Anise, black fruit, and cassis.
