About This Wine
Izak's 177
Pinotage
There are few better ways to experience authentic South African wine than our Izak’s 177 Pinotage. This is an immense wine packed with robust dark fruit flavors, enticing spice, and structured tannins, and each hefty mouthful delivers an excellent expression of this local grape. Since its creation in 1925 by Abraham Izak Perold, South African winemakers have attempted to master the Pinotage grape variety. This crossing of Pinot Noir and Cinsault can be finicky, but with a skillful hand, meticulous attention, and the right climate, the payoff is worth the struggle. Not only is our Pinotage’s flavor profile well balanced, but its refreshing acidity and structured tannins also make this wine the perfect partner to grilled meats and stews.
