About This Wine

Isolani Winery

Cabernet Sauvignon

Our Isolani Winery’s Cabernet Sauvignon is a harmonious alliance of fruit flavor and oak with warm baking spice aromas and ripe dark berry flavors. As in chess, a winemaker must remain several moves ahead to master their craft. This was especially true in California’s 2020 vintage, where an unusually warm winter followed by an early spring led to a hasty start to the growing season. With high summer temperatures, winemakers carefully monitored the natural sugar levels in ripening grapes, mindfully anticipating the ideal time to harvest. Luckily, Cabernet Sauvignon is well suited to both high heat and drought-like conditions with thick skins and deep-diving roots, making it a worthy match for warm weather. Between this hardy grape variety’s natural advantage and the strategic moves of the winemaker, our Isolani Cabernet strikes the perfect balance of flavor and texture. Wine Region

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Cloves tasting note. Cloves
  • A figure representing the Blackcurrant tasting note. Blackcurrant
  • A figure representing the Blackberry tasting note. Blackberry

Toasty aromas from oak maturation join spicy scents of clove on the nose. The palate is full and soft, with gentle acidity and aged textures. Blackberry and blackcurrant flavors lead to earthy notes on a dusty, tannic finish worthy of grilled meats and sharp cheeses.
