Named for the couple who financed Columbus's maiden voyage, this regal old vine Tempranillo will delight you from the first sip. WINEMAKER

Winemaking for this bottle was overseen by the superstar team of Peter Leske, Giles Cooke, and Fergal Tynan. Between them, they have decades of wine industry experience, two Masters of Wine certifications, and dozens of incredible wines. The team is famous for ensuring that ever wine adheres to strict winemaking traditions that allow for perfect varietal definition. Their wines are often characterized as having a vibrant freshness that maintains the authenticity of whatever terroir they pull from.

REGION:

It’d be hard to find a place more picturesque than the region of La Mancha in Castilla, Spain. Famous as the backdrop of the literary masterpiece, Don Quixote, the region is dotted with white windmills, ancient castles, and big yellow sunflowers nodding in the cool afternoon winds. But with over 3000 hours of sunshine per year; cool, dry evenings; and lush, nutrient-dense soil the region is perfect for growing a number of crops including mushrooms, olives, and, of course, grapes. With very old, low yielding, un-irrigated vineyards, the region is known for producing small-batch harvests of intensely flavorful, highly concentrated fruit.

TASTING NOTES:

Almost regal in its purple hue, this beautiful wine is fragrant straight out of the bottle: aromas of red and black fruits accentuated by just a hint of smoke. These flavors continue on the palate with ripe berry flavors, pillowy tannins, and just a hint of vanilla, tobacco, and mint. With spicy savor and a juicy succulence, this delightful wine is the perfect choice for serving before dinner with tapas.

Wine Region

Castilla y León

Castilla y León is Spain's largest autonomous region and is known for its stylish, flavorful wines. The area is home to 9 designated wine regions, including Ribera del Duero and hidden gem Rueda. Local Spanish grapes thrive here, at the northern end of the country's central plateau. Look out for plush reds made from Tempranillo, which offer deep blackberry, plum and vanilla flavors. Alongside bold reds, Castilla y León also produces some of Spain's most elegant whites, made from aromatic grapes like Verdejo and Viura.
