About This Wine

Iron Arrow

Cabernet Sauvignon

Although conditions in Washington’s Columbia Valley are more hot and dry than the surrounding areas of the Pacific Northwest, its average temperatures during the growing season are still significantly lower than California. When it comes to thick-skinned black grape varieties, this climate results in brighter and more approachable wines. This deliciously light-hearted, 93 point Cabernet Sauvignon from our skilled team at Iron Arrow is a wonderful combination of power and precision. Since these Washington grapes were harvested at just the right level of ripeness, flavors of perky blue fruit complement fresh and refined herbaceous notes. Our winemakers chose to limit the cold-soak maceration time prior to fermentation, which produced a beautiful, garnet color and softened the tannins. This award-winning wine is perfect for anyone who feels a bit overwhelmed by big and bold California Cabs or just wants to switch it up and try a lighter version of a grape they already know and love. Wine Region

Columbia Valley

Sheltered by the rain shadow of the Cascade Mountains, Columbia Valley is home to the majority of Washington's vineyards. Cool nights keep zippy acidity in the grapes, while long daylight hours give the fruit plenty of chance to ripen. This results in full-bodied Merlot, elegant Cabernet Sauvignon and deeply concentrated Syrah. White wines are just as tantalizing, with toasty oak-touched Chardonnay and ripe stone fruit-flavored Riesling taking the spotlight. Sub-AVAs to look out for are Yakima Valley and Walla Walla. The Columbia Valley is one of the only appellations in the United States to occupy vineyards in two states, as it crosses the Oregon border in the southern part of the valley.
