About This Wine

Iron Arrow

Red Blend

The state of California is a godsend to wine lovers everywhere, and some regions, in particular, are great finds. Half the grapes from this blend are from Lake County (part of the greater North Coast AVA. Without the constraints placed on winemakers in the “Old World,” the vintners are able to explore and innovate and to blend what they want. This wine is a decidedly New World take that uses Old World grapes. Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot provide the frame, and the Zinfandel and Syrah provide the lush fruit. Fully ripe with a beautiful, dark inky color, the Iron Arrow is a delight to drink. We love the high intensity of blue and red fruit, with a touch of complexity that comes from a short stint in oak. Try it next to anything with intense and smoky flavors. Judges love it too! It took home 90 points and a Gold medal at the 2018 Sommelier Challenge and a Silver Medal at the 2020 West Coast Wine Competition.

Wine Region

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Blueberry tasting note. Blueberry
  • A figure representing the Black Cherry tasting note. Black Cherry
  • A figure representing the Oak tasting note. Oak

Red and dark blue fruit, with opulent, fleshy tannins that provide some structure. These notes stand up to beef, seared or smoked, and complement the intensity of flavors in hamburgers, steaks, or a slowly cooked Beef bourguignon.
