About This Wine

Cabernet Sauvignon

Some consider Mendocino County in Northern California to be as remote as it gets. The land in Mendocino is covered in redwood trees, filled with switchback roads, and charmingly desolate. During the day, temperatures can hit near the 100’s, but at night it drops drastically, creating a diurnal shift and a truly idyllic environment for grape growing. Grapes with tough skins like Cabernet Sauvignon thrive in climates like Mendocino, and this wine is a beautiful example of the bold and powerful wines coming out of the region. Complex and serious, this full-bodied wine features dark fruit flavors and earthy notes picked up from the terroir of the area. Thanks to lots of time in oak during the aging process, heavy and grippy tannins coat the palate with every sip. This wine is perfect for the classic pairing of grilled red meats and dishes with deep flavors. Excellent to drink now or age-worthy for a special occasion in a few years.

Wine Region

Mendocino County

One of the unsung regions of the North Coast, Mendocino County enjoys some of California's finest cool-climate terroirs. Lying north of Sonoma, it is home to 12 separate AVAs, spread through sleepy valleys and long, rugged coastlines—much of which exudes a rustic, laid-back feel. Mendocino delights fans of top-quality Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and sparkling wine, but there is also plenty of fine Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Syrah made in its warmer sites too. Mendocino is also famous for its high number of organic-certified vineyards, reflecting the general "off-grid" hippie nature of its winemaking pioneers.

  • A figure representing the Violet tasting note. Violet
  • A figure representing the Blackcurrant tasting note. Blackcurrant

Aromas of fresh coffee grinds, cigar, cedar, and deep violet complement dark fruit flavors of blackcurrant and blackberries. Grippy and bold tannins completely coat the palate and a sweetness of vanilla bean thanks to oak aging rounds out the mouthfeel with each sip.
