Red Wine

Any wine coming from Inkscape has a lot to live up to. The debut wine was given an Editor’s Choice Pick from Food and Wine magazine, and the subsequent wines have continued winning award after award. This 2016 Red has had just enough time aging to settle down and start showing beautifully. As well-made wine ages, it can begin to show “tertiary” flavors. Tertiary flavors include vanilla, coffee, tobacco, earth, and sometimes even a light nuttiness. This fantastic Cab is no exception. It has well-integrated tannins and shows layers of vanilla and coffee with just a hint of earth that play off of the deep blue fruit flavors. We are sure you are going to love this complex Red. Judges have loved this wine too and sent it home from the New York International Wine Competition with 91 points to sit alongside its two Silvers from earlier competitions!

Wine Region

California

California is one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world. Spanning 850 miles along North America's west coast—and inland across mountains and valleys—California's American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) cover a dizzying array of terroir. The cold, deep waters of the Pacific Ocean play a major role in cooling California's vineyards, sending fog and chilly air up to 100 miles inland. This tempers the daytime heat and allows grapes to ripen slowly but fully. Cooler-climate grape varieties thrive closest to the sea, while further inland, bigger, bolder wines prevail.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Forest Floor tasting note. Forest Floor
  • A figure representing the Blueberry tasting note. Blueberry

This wine shows beautiful tertiary flavors. These flavors are subtle and come up around the more overt tastes of blue and red fruit. We love tasting for the hints of vanilla, tobacco, and earth.
