About This Wine
Il Falchetto
Barbera
For four generations, Il Falchetto winery has been the passion project of the famed Forno family. Specializing particularly in Barbera d’Asti grapes, grown only in the hilly Asti provinces of Northern Italy, Il Falchetto has combined decades of family secrets with Northern Italian tradition to produce wines of exceptional and robust flavor. Since it began production in 1998, the Pian Scorrone vineyard, in particular, has won a reputation of its own for wines that not only exemplify the excellence of Il Falchetto, but also capture the unique and distinctive flavors of the region.
Aged for six months in steel vats, the Il Falchetto Pian Scorrone Barbera d’Asti is made with 100% Barbera grapes from the strong 2015 harvest. In the mouth it is extremely fresh and fruity, with excellent structure and balance. It’s incredibly versatile, too: this vibrant wine is perfect for serving alongside appetizers, but is equally up to the task of rich, Italian pastas or gamey meats.
