About This Wine

Guigal

Rhône Blanc

Guigal's Côtes du Rhône Blanc both sets and steps outside the standard for the region. It showcases a secret of the Guigal family: their specialization in the great white Rhône varieties. It's a beautiful, seamless wine that represents unbelievable value. Guigal produces an almost completely distinct Côtes du Rhône Blanc due to their Northern Rhône mindset. The Guigals searched for growers to encourage Viognier's plantings for their Côtes du Rhône Blanc, as they have a love story with this grape that was nearly extinct in the middle of the last century. The Viognier adds critical freshness and aromatics to the other varieties. The wine is a blend of 60% Viognier and a blend of other Rhône grapes.

Wine Region

Côtes du Rhône

Many of France's best-value red wines come from Côtes du Rhône. The appellation covers the entire Rhône Valley, which is responsible for some of the country's boldest wines. Most Côtes du Rhône wine is red, ripe and fruity, made using a technique called semi-carbonic maceration (a method also used frequently in Beaujolais). This adds flavors of kirsch and even banana to the typical notes of black fruit, red fruit and Provençal herbs. Most grapes for Côtes du Rhône are grown on the warm, windswept plains of the Southern Rhône. And, as always for Southern Rhône wines, the GSM (Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre) blend reigns supreme.

Tasting Notes

  • A figure representing the Peach tasting note. Peach
  • A figure representing the Apricot tasting note. Apricot
  • A figure representing the White Flowers tasting note. White Flowers

A bright, golden color on first look. A fresh note marked by distinctive Viognier aromas of white flowers, apricot, acacia, and white peach. The fruits come through on the palate, with plenty of richness and body—a well-rounded wine with elegance, power, and balance.
