Sauvignon Blanc

This exceptional wine is part of our Fine Wine Collection.

Winemaking When you think of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, the wine that comes to mind is usually easy-drinking, refreshing and energetic. This wine has all of that and more. After a cool fermentation, the use of oak adds more weight to the body, creating a sense of plushness that balances the grape’s naturally high acidity. Oak also creates toasty, caramelly characteristics that elevate this wine beyond easy sipper to sophisticated, cellar-worthy delight.

Vintage Island winegrowing has perks and pitfalls. While abundant sunshine and sea breezes set an excellent stage for viticulture, the constant threat of bad weather looms. Nestled safely on the South Island, Nelson dodged 2023’s Cyclone Gabrielle, which wreaked havoc on the North Island. Throughout spring and summer rains, diligent pruning and the vineyard’s gravel, sand and loam soils kept excess moisture at bay. 2023 cleared up to be a stunning vintage as the sun watched over harvest, giving ripening grapes a boost to the finish line.

Pairing Logic With flavor intensity, supple textures, and freshness, our Sauvignon Blanc will pair beautifully with diverse cuisines. Serve it alongside seafood, tender white meat, and fried foods (including vegetables) drenched in buttery sauces. Salty seasonings and marinades will further enhance the wine’s body while highlighting its tropical fruit notes. Creamy cheeses and sauces will show off its bright acidity as it slices through smooth textures.

Wine Region

Nelson

Nelson is located on the northern tip of New Zealand’s South Island, adjacent to Marlborough. Though it may be lesser known than its neighbor, this small region has a stunning reputation for high-quality Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Noir. Protected on three sides by mountain ranges, "Sunny Nelson" benefits from the brightest weather on the South Island—clear skies are complemented by cooling breezes from Tasman Bay, creating the perfect climate for viticulture.
